Personalising Yoga - The Yoga121 Process

Before embarking being taught on a one to one basis it is a good idea to get some concrete information about this traditional way of learning yoga. All Teachers have been very well taught in the tradition of Krishnamacharya, they all have a Teacher or Mentor and have their own personal practice, therefore they are all too aware of the obstacles that students themselves may encounter.

A student having made a decision to go ahead with individual teaching 121 needs to be aware of what they are undertaking.

THE FIRST STEP FOR THE STUDENT TO UNDERSTAND IS:

  • commit to the process

  • commit and have respect for the teacher

  • consistency - be aware of the importance of a regular daily practice

  • to attend regular study groups

  • be responsible for his/her own development and change

  • patience

  • positive attitude

"Every major text, including Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, says the same thing. In yoga, in order to heal or to achieve any goal, the student needs to commit to the practice and have faith in the practice and the teachings. These requirements of discipline and faith are complimentary. If our faith is true, it will inspire us to do the things that are needed to move forward. Similarly, when we commit to our practice, approaching it with determination and eagerness, it will enhance our faith. Doing the work, having faith in the work, I am empowered, and I become my own healer.

THE SECOND STEP IS FOR THE STUDENT TO UNDERSTAND THE ROLE OF THE TEACHER

The Teacher will provide:

  • personalised practice plans

  • a safe confidential environment for study and practice

  • will respect and honour the student's abilities

  • encourage, guide, support and instruct accordingly

THE PROCESS

  • a consultation - to gather information from the student

  • preparation of a personalised practice plan

  • a course of six lessons - to adjust, modify or change the daily practice and give student an opportunity to discuss difficulties and obstacles experienced.

  • consistent regular Yoga121 sessions for improvement

"It is only when the correct practice is followed for a long time, without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness, that it can succeed." Yoga Sutra 1.13

For all Teachers and students embarking on the journey of practicing Yoga121 it is imperative that they understand that eagerness, consistent study, discipline and a positive attitude are essential elements in a successful practice, when all these components are in place change happens from within us, not outside us. When we connect with the powerful healing force within us this connection facilitates the healing process even in situations where it appears that healing may be impossible. So many changes can be made that inspire Teachers and students to move forwards positively on their life path bringing more happiness and contentment into their lives and to the students they themselves teach.

The Yoga121 process is not just for Teachers and students wanting a physical practice, it is also the process for whichever aspect of yoga is wished to study. Having decided to make this facility more accessible to the student I am launching a Skype or Facetime option that opens up for Teachers and students the opportunity to study Yoga121 in the comfort of their own homes at a time which suits them. Any Teacher or student who is interested in working 121 and would like to be placed on a list - please contact me either by telephone or email and I will be delighted to tell you more about it and how to set up for a Yoga121 session.

The ONLINE Yoga121 process is not just for Teachers and students wanting a physical practice, it is also the process for whichever aspect of yoga is wished to study. Click here to view the list of study one can undertake.
